Let yourself be seduced by the charming “Logis des Varennes”, a small seigneury of the XVIth century
with a 0.75 acre garden, surrounded by a rubble wall with hollow tiles.

Located in Landes (17380), a peaceful rural village with shops,
it is at the epicenter of all tourist sites and historical monuments of the Region, and very easy to get to:

– 5 km / 3 miles from exit n° 34 La Rochelle / Saint-Jean-d’Angély on the A10 Paris – Bordeaux highway
– 20 km / 13 miles from the Surgères station on the Paris – La Rochelle high speed train line (TGV)
– 60 and 150 km (40 and 90 miles) from La Rochelle and Bordeaux airports, respectively.

We offer 2 holiday cottages (“gîtes”) located in the ancient outbuildings renovated in 2017 with great care:

– the “Cendrilles” (50 m2 / 540 sq ft + private terrace) for 2 people,
– the “Ecarlantes” (100 m2 / 1,100 sq ft + private terrace) for a family of 6/7 people, or 2 couples of adults.

Both cottages can be rented separately or together.

The main building itself (400 m2 / 4,300 sqft + covered terrace) is available for rental from June 1, 2020:

Completely refurbished in 2019,  it can accommodate 12 people (5 rooms with large double beds + 1 convertible office with 2 single sofa beds).

We are anxious to preserve the quality of stay of our guests: the Logis cannot be rented at the same time as the 2 gîtes, except for the same group/family.

The Property

The “Logis des Varennes” is attested as early as 1564 and belonged to the castle of Landes. The windows of the main body are late Renaissance and the front door, which dates from the second half of the XVIth century, is listed as a Historic Monument since November 29, 1948.
Very few alterations were made on the whole, other than the piercing of a window in the left part of the facade in 2007.
The outbuildings include a wine cellar, roof covered shelters for animals, a pigeon house, and other buildings with hollow tiled roofs.
