Let yourself be seduced by the charm and character of the “Logis des Varennes”, a small seigneury of the XVIth century
with a 0.75 acre garden, surrounded by a rubble wall with hollow tiles.

Located in Landes (17380), a peaceful rural village with shops,
it is at the epicenter of all tourist sites and historical monuments of the Region, and very easy to get to:

– 5 km / 3 miles from exit 34 La Rochelle / Saint-Jean-d’Angély on the A10 Paris – Bordeaux hwy
– 20 km / 13 miles from Surgères station on the Paris – La Rochelle high speed train line (TGV)
– 60 and 150 km (40 and 90 miles) from La Rochelle and Bordeaux airports, respectively.

Our accommodation proposal includes:

2 holiday cottages (“gîtes”) located in the ancient outbuildings
renovated with great care,
and the main house completely refurbished in 2020

– the “Cendrilles” (540 sq ft + private terrace) for 2 people,
– the “Ecarlantes” (1,100 sq ft + private terrace) for a family of 6/7 people, or 2 couples of adults,
– the main house “the Logis” (4,300 sqft + covered terrace) for a family or group of 10/12 people.

We are anxious to preserve the quality of stay of our guests: the Logis cannot be rented at the same time as the 2 gîtes, except for the same family.

The Property

The “Logis des Varennes” is attested as early as 1564 and belonged to the castle of Landes. The windows of the main body are late Renaissance and the front door, which dates from the second half of the XVIth century, is listed as a Historic Monument since November 29, 1948.
Very few alterations were made on the whole, other than the piercing of a window in the left part of the facade in 2007.
The outbuildings include a wine cellar, roof covered shelters for animals, a pigeon house, and other buildings with hollow tiled roofs.
